About the role:

The Head of Data Innovation is a senior member of the Data & Analytics Comptence Center and spearheads the design and development of innovative solutions based on cutting-edge business intelligence and advanced analytics approaches towards developing new competitive advantages as well as business concepts that aim to position ITS as a competitive advantage for the Group.

The Head of Data Innovation leads a dedicated team of experts with a virtual team of subject matter experts across the organization. This person manages and improves business intelligence, analytics, and insight content development, design, rollout, cross-functional training, development and technology solutions for ITS, all with an eye on innovation and technology exploration. He/She is also responsible for setting the standards for Reporting, Visualization, Analysis and Data Science topics. He/She is responsible for delivering Advanced Analytics frameworks and project content toward ITS, Corporate Functions and Business Units. This position will direct capability development and convergence of established analytics solutions, processes and content, as well as define and implement a strategy focusing on enabling innovative data usage and advanced analytics at scale across the functions and towards the Business Units and Corporate functions.

What will you do:

Shaping Direction:
• Define and implement a strategy focusing on enabling innovative data usage and advanced analytics at scale
• Research trends and developments in the areas of data innovation, BI and advanced analytics to keep current and abreast of technology and business advances
• Lead identification of data innovation opportunities and lead implementation of associated use cases in order to ensure competitiveness for future revenue streams
• Lead creation of data innovation community within IT Services
• Directing the allocation of resource (both internal and external) to the optimum advantage of DPDHL
• In conjunction with the Head of Domain, to define and execute appropriate sourcing decisions for the Department
• Is an advisor and expert to the business units on specific IT and functional topics relevant to the respective area

Operational Excellence:
• Accountable for Project Delivery on time, on cost and to appropriate quality standards
• Ensuring appropriate management of the portfolio of projects within the Department
• Directing Programs of Work which may involve other Departments
• Identifying and managing the delivery of new capabilities (techniques and tools) to meet and exceed business colleague expectations (cost, time and quality)
• Drive operational cost efficiency through optimization of the delivery process through re-use etc
• Ensure that delivered projects operate in a stable and cost effective environment

Business Acumen:
• Is responsible for management of the Department P&L achieving key revenue and market share targets.
• Optimizing the delivery cost through execution and continuous review of the agreed Sourcing Strategy
Building and Leading Teams:
• Creating an engaged workforce by ensuring and appropriate mix of challenging and rewarding opportunities along with optimal use of the available resources
• Monitoring and directing the ongoing development of the professional team under their management
• Ensuring that all issues related to their staff’s wellbeing are monitored and resolved appropriately and in a timely fashion, including working environment, travel related and workload
• Responsible for ensuring strong cooperation with other Departments
• Responsible for establishing and demonstrating a working culture within the Department that ensures maximum co-operation between ITS departments (One Team)

What you should have:

• Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science or Analytics with 4 to 5 years industry experience in data science or fields
• Extensive experienced in analyzing complex datasets and in development and implementation of data, BI, and advanced analytics solutions
• Experienced in working in multi-cultural environment, managing large project teams in direct and widely dispersed geographical locations
• Strongly demonstrated leadership in service, customer orientation, project management and communication skills.
• Strong financial and commercial business acumen.
• Proven ability to direct and influence other senior managers outside direct line management structure.
• Capability to lead, motivate, inspire and encourage highly skilled people. Develop career plans for team
• Communication and presentation capability: customer facing and DPDHL internal major influencer in technical buying scenarios
• Innovative approach to usage of architecture and technology
• Skilled in budgeting and managing revenue
• Results oriented and driven by goal achievement with a strong focus on high quality service performance across different location and conditions
• Develop effective and meaningful relationships with business partners and stakeholders
• Profund experience and expertise in managing complex data and analytics related topics and communication
• Experience in leading a team of data engineers, analysts, and data scientists
• Developing interactive web-based dashboard application for data insights reporting (HTML, JavaScript, CSS)
• Data integration, metadata, BI analytics tools and Big Data tools
• Database management systems e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MS SQL Server
• Programming for data science, statistics, or modeling
• Strong programming skills in the following languages: Python with e.g., Pandas, Numpy, and other usual packages
• Data visualization tools or libraries e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Python (ggplot, matplotlib, pandas, pygal) and JavaScript (Leaflet, D3)
• Experienced in development and implementation of BI solutions
