Linux Admin for L2 support (System Support Specialist)


We are looking for a Linux enthusiast (we use RHEL) to join our international team of Linux admins. Our team maintains thousands of Linux servers (and small amount of HP-UXs) in cooperation with similar teams in Malaysia, USA and Brazil. As our main duty is to keep these servers up and running, we help ourselves by automation – our GIT repo is full of scripts in bash and python. The team in Prague is rather small – up to 10 people with friendly attitude, but in large department with solid corporate background and stability.

Your work will be:

• 2nd level of Linux/UNIX server support – solving incidents and implementing OS related changes
- Solving more complicated OS related incidents, which cannot be handled by our L1 colleagues
- Cooperation with other teams in solving incidents, attending solution driven confcalls, providing advice and support
- Implementing OS related changes on servers
- Oncall duty (approximately 1 week including weekend in 2 month)
• Operational Acceptance Testing – validating, that newly provisioned servers are mature, secured and compliant to be ready for production
- Most of the tests are automated, failed results to be explained to PMs and providing support in fixing the issues
- Improving the automated tests in our OAT framework
• Helping our colleagues form 1st level (shifts) to grow professionally by knowledge share sessions and by improving documentation (our Wiki, Guides and Manuals)
• Cooperating on automation projects and improving our tools – shell scripts, Python, Ansible, SQL
• Supporting server security team
• Frequent contact and collaboration with IT support colleagues around the globe (mainly in USA, Brazil and Malaysia) and together with other ops teams (HW, storage, middleware)

You should have:

• Knowledge of Linux/UNIX server administration is a must
• Advanced English to communicate with colleagues from America and Asia on daily basis
• Willingness to provide on-call support during weekends (aprx. 1 week including weekend in 2 month)
• Ability to get from problem to solution quickly while maintaining precision
• Experience with IT support activities
We welcome: scripting knowledge (bash, Python), knowledge of Ansible, basic knowledge of clustering
